“I believed that we could create something truly unique in retirement living.” – Bill Sears
How the family farm turned into a community for families across North Carolina.
SearStone is the dream of William “Bill” Sears. This beautiful setting has been in the family since the mid-1800’s. Over the years, generations of the Sears and Stones have donated portions of their farmland to enhance the Cary community: for roads, public utilities or even outright ownership. As his own loved ones entered the retirement years, Bill Sears wanted to create a senior living opportunity where they could stay on their beloved land and share it with others. He looked at conventional retirement communities and envisioned something bigger: a retirement destination that would be a community in itself, with residences, shopping and recreation for all generations. As an architect, he had the talent and knowledge to fulfill his dream in every detail.
To bring the SearStone lifestyle to life, he chose Retirement Living Associates, Inc. (RLA) as his management partner—one of the region’s most respected names in senior living development and operations. David W. Ammons, its owner and principal, is also CEO of Springmoor in Raleigh, with a trusted reputation for wonderful service and devoted care.
