Meet our volunteer Board of Directors.

Our Board of Directors includes community leaders and residents, all volunteering their time and business expertise to support the SearStone not-for-profit mission of service. Their guidance has been instrumental in creating the SearStone-RLA partnership—and an unparalleled way of life.

Stan Brading

Mr. Brading has been a practicing attorney for 32 years, specializing in tax exempt bond financing for Section 501(c)(3) corporations like SearStone, including the acquisition and construction of health care facilities with such bond proceeds. Mr. Brading represented SearStone as its attorney from 2005 until July 1, 2011, when he accepted his current position as President on a part-time basis. He also serves as president of other non-profit corporations that develop and own seniors and affordable housing, and continues to practice law. He received his B.A. degree from Duke University in 1974, his J.D. degree from the Washington and Lee University School of Law in 1979, and his Masters of Laws in Taxation from Emory University in 1984. He was licensed as a certified public accountant in North Carolina in 1976. He has served as President of the national Duke University Alumni Association and on the Duke Board of Trustees, and has been involved in a wide range of non-profit community organizations such as Chairman of the Board of the Atlanta Children’s Shelter, President of Buckhead Little League Baseball, as a member of the Buckhead Rotary Club.

Rev. Dr. Luther G. Brewer

Reverend Brewer is the former Pastor of Greenwood Forest Baptist Church in Cary, North Carolina (1966-1999) and has served in a variety of capacities for a wide range of counseling and pastoral organizations.

Chuck Norman, APR

Mr. Norman earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from North Carolina State University. He spent seven years with the Cary Chamber of Commerce as Vice President of Communication and Government Relations prior to joining Smith & Associates/Cherokee Publishing as Vice President and Director of Business Development.

James B. Pierce

Mr. Pierce is a Certified Public Accountant and Partner at the accounting firm of Williams Overman Pierce, LLP. He is active in a number of professional, civic and private organizations.

Mack R. Leath, Jr.

Mr. Leath received his B.S. Degree in Business Administration from North Carolina State University in 1979 and has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of MRL Associates in Atlanta, Georgia since 1990. MRL Associates is a family owned business engaged in the sale of industrial chemicals in the southeastern United States.

Charles H. Henderson

Mr. Henderson served as the Town Attorney for Town of Cary for 28 years before retiring in 2005. After retiring from Cary, he was employed by the law firm of Poyner & Spruill for one year. Prior to coming to Cary, he served as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Burlington, NC.

Marc Hewitt

Mr. Hewitt is a healthcare attorney with the law firm of Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP in Raleigh, focusing on healthcare-related regulatory and litigation matters, including representation of CCRCs, nursing and assisted living facilities. He is a lifelong resident of North Carolina, has served on the board of Habitat for Humanity of Wake County, and previously served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Linda Coleman

Linda Coleman served as the Director of the North Carolina Personnel Department. Prior to her appointment, Linda served two terms in the NC House representing Eastern Wake County. She is very active in her church, First Cosmopolitan Baptist Church and serves on the Board of Wake Tech Community College. She lives in Knightdale.
